2027 Admissions Policy

In November, we launched a consultation on our new Admissions Policy for September 2027 entry. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who responded to the proposals, 85% of whom supported the introduction of a catchment area.

The Governing Body approved the 2027 Admissions Policy on the 26th January 2026. You can read the full document here.

What has changed?

From September 2027, we will be introducing a 12-mile catchment area while continuing to prioritise admission to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Why are we making this change?

  1. To continue to widen opportunity for disadvantaged pupils

Maintaining our Pupil Premium priority supports fairness and social mobility.

  1. To strengthen our local school community

The establishment of a catchment area ensures the school serves the families living closest to Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School.

  1. To re-align our admissions policy with the original purpose of Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School

As we mark our 500-year anniversary as a school, the new admissions policy reconnects BVGS with the intentions of its founder, John Vesey, and its historic role in serving the local community.

Thank you for your continued support of the school.
