Meet the Headteacher - Dominic Robson

 D Robson 2012Dominic Robson

I have had the privilege of serving as Headteacher of Bishop Vesey's Grammar School since September 2012.

I was born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1971. I attended school at St Augustine's Billington and St Mary's Sixth Form College, Blackburn, studying A levels in French, German, History and Music. From there, I went on to study for a BA (Honours) History degree at Durham University and enjoyed the North East so much that I stayed on to do a PGCE in History and Religious Education.

I began my teaching career at Bishop Walsh School. For the latter part of my 8 years there, I was Head of History and Politics.

I moved to Bishop Vesey's in 2001 as Head of History and Humanities. Between 2003 and 2010, I was Head of Sixth Form, and Deputy Headteacher between 2009 and 2012. I attained my National Professional Qualification in Headship (NPQH) in 2009. As part of this course, I spent some time working at Waverley School, Small Heath, and was lucky to be mentored by Headteacher, Mr Kamal Hanif OBE, as well as our very own Mr Iddon.

Family time is very important to me. To relax, I enjoy football (for my sins I am a Blackburn Rovers supporter!). I love playing the piano, going to the cinema and watching live theatre and concerts. I am an avid reader, especially when it comes to current affairs and political debates. I like nothing better than walking in the British countryside and visiting places of historical interest. By nature, I am an optimist and try to live life to the full. My hope for all our students is that they enjoy making the most of the inspiring and excellent academic and social opportunities that the Vesey Experience offers them.
