Well-constructed partnership for Honeybourne and local school
Honeybourne Facilities Group is one of the latest business to join the Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School (BVGS) Corporate Partnership Programme, which was introduced and officially launched in February.
Owner Doug Hunt and his team at Honeybourne work with businesses to share their facilities management and construction expertise, relating to property care and management, throughout the UK.
Hunt comments: “The school funding issue is never far from the headlines and it’s wonderful to see a school adopt a proactive approach to coping with the already tight budgets they are facing.
“As an ex-student, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school between ??? and ???. Now I’m able to get involved once again by supporting the school and helping its students to make the most of their time at BVGS.
“Joining the partnership has also given me chance to reconnect with fellow school friends, many of whom have started businesses of their own and are also looking to give back to the community.
“So far the experience has been highly rewarding. Brian Davies of BVGS, who is heading up the partnership programme has organised several events to bring together all partners and integrate them with the school and some of the older students.
“The recent jobs fair held at the school is one example; we exhibited there, it was good to get involved and discuss careers and aspirations with the students.
“And, as Education is one of the main sectors we work in, we’re well-versed in educating students about the processes and practices in the construction world.
“We’re delighted to be involved in this forward-thinking initiative and look forward to continuing to build on our relationships with the school, and the other Corporate Partners.”
Brian Davies, Development Director and Deputy Director of Sports at the school comments: “It’s great to welcome Doug and the team at Honeybourne to the partnership.
“Some of the other Corporate Partners have already enlisted their help with facilities management and refurbishment needs and I urge you to get in touch if you have any requirements, if you haven’t already.”
“We now have 25 Corporate Partners in total and we look forward to continuing to work together to build a brighter future for our school and students.”
HONEYBOURNE FACILITIES GROUP JOIN FORCES WITH PARENTS TO RESTORE PAVILION
Local company Honeybourne Facilities Group based in Boldmere, who are experts within the property care and management sector have joined forces with local school Bishop Vesey Grammar School to help restore the much loved sports pavilion that is visible from the main Lichfield to Birmingham cross city line.
The pavilion is an iconic building for the school built in 1938. Over the years it has proved difficult to maintain due to significant cuts in Government funding, and now it has reached a point where it is need of some attention to restore it to its former glory.
A working party was formed with parent volunteers and they have been supported by Honeybourne Facilities Group whose Managing Director Doug Hunt was a former pupil at the school. Honeybourne have undertaken the more technical tasks relating to mechanical and electrical work, and putting their quality stamp on the job in hand.
Graham Swindells Finance Director for Bishop Vesey commented “The school feels very privileged and humbled that one of our highly valued and reliable contractors, Honeybourne has stepped in to support the parents. The support they have offered the school and the parents has been amazing and a fantastic example of the private sector being involved in community projects”.
The students, teachers and parents will yet again be able to enjoy the pavilion now it has undergone the refurbishment.
